Philip (Pop) F. Hoeffner, a lifetime resident of Montgomery, NY passed away peacefully in his home on June 12, 2021 surrounded by loved ones.
Phil was born on his family farm in Montgomery, New York to the late Ferdinand and Clara Froehlich Hoeffner. He married Ann McCormick on April 25, 1953, and they were blessed with 68 years of marriage. Together, they shared 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, who affectionately called him Pop.
Sunup to sundown, Phil could be found on the family farm, which was established in 1917. His wife and family, farm, and community were his life. He was a lifetime member of the Holy Name of Mary Church & a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was one of the longest living members of the Fleet Hook and Ladder Co. in the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department. From 1976-2015, he served on the Board of Directors for the Montgomery Fire Department Benevolent Association, including being President. He was a founding member on the Board of Fire Commission and served as an active member until 1993. He was also a lifetime member of several agricultural organizations throughout Orange County, NY.
Phil is survived by his wife Ann Hoeffner, his children; Philip J. Hoeffner (Linda), George Hoeffner, and Kathleen Hoeffner; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hoeffner (Lila), Frances Schlobohm (Eric), Theresa Pearson (Alexander), George Hoeffner Jr.(Kristine), Kim Hoeffner, Josephine Hoeffner, and Brent Hoeffner; great grandchildren Nicholas, Sam, Phoebe, Ella, and Grant; sisters Josephine Bassett and Marie Pulvirent, brother Jack Hoeffner, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, brother George Hoeffner, sister Clare Earl, brothers in law William Earl, Carl Bassett, & John Pulvirent, and sisters in law Karen Hoeffner & Edith Hoeffner.
Phil will be remembered by his hard work, dedication to Hoeffner Farms, and his unwavering support, generosity, and love towards his family and community.
A funeral mass will be held at Holy Name of Mary Church (89 Union St. Montgomery, NY) on June 18th at 10:30 am.
