Richard Harold Bennett

Richard Harold Bennett of New Paltz, NY, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026, in Poughkeepsie. He was 82.

The son of the late Harold Bennett and Lucille Yeaple, he was born October 24, 1943, in Walden.

Richard was a retired truck driver for LP Transportation in Chester, NY.

Besides being a wonderful husband and father Rich's greatest gift was his quick witted sense of humor and a smile and laugh that lit up every room he was in. 

He is survived by his wife Lorraine at home, son Richard Bennett Jr. & his wife Mildred of Henderson, NY, daughter Melissa Nelson & her husband David of Gardiner, NY, daughter Holly Cleere & her husband Mike of Syracuse, NY, son Danny Sullivan & his wife Leah of Weston, CT, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, brother Donald Bennett & his wife Dee, cousin Gail Yeaple and beloved Cats Bella & Bootsie.

Along with his parents he was predeceased by sons Mark Bennett and Sean Sullivan.

Services and cremation will take place privately.
