Sarah Sheila "Sally" (Herrity) Cooke

Sally was raised in Oyster Bay, NY and was a proud graduate of St. Dominics High School. Sheila, as she was known in her academic and professional life, enjoyed a rewarding career and later retired with Northrup-Grumman. Sally was active for many years in the Rosary Alter Society at Saints Phillip and James Church. Sally took up the sport of golf after raising her family in Smithtown and remained an avid golfer until late in life. In retirement Sally enjoyed volunteering, was an active member of the Long Island “tall” club, took up country line dancing and began to enjoy world travel. Sally was best known for her radiant joy and ever contagious laughter. To know her was to love her. You could not hear her laugh without becoming pulled into her orbit. She made all occasions she attended more enjoyable due to her larger-than-life personality.

She is survived by her 3 children; Caren Henderson (Daniel) of Newburgh, NY, Brian Cooke of St. James, NY and Craig Cooke (Wendy) of Pensacola, FL.  Sally is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, dozens of cousins and many, many close friends.

Preceded in death by her mother and Father; Mary and John Herrity, her ex-husband Robert J. Cooke and her siblings.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Orange & Sullivan and the staff of Montgomery Nursing Home for their kindness in caring for Sally.
