Stefan Brawitsch, formerly of Walden, NY, passed away Monday, August 4, 2025 in Sleepy Hollow, NY. He was 89.
The son of the late Michael and Barbara (Hessner) Brawitsch, he was born July 30, 1936 in Yugoslavia.
For many years, Stefan was the owner of Karl Ehmer’s Butcher store in Middletown, NY. He loved socializing with his customers. With his quick wit and outgoing personality, Stefan made many acquaintances and friends everywhere he went. He was a parishioner and an usher at Most Precious Blood Church, Walden, NY, where he was also a Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
Stefan enjoyed all aspects of country life, but most of all, spending time with family.
He was the widower of Pauline Brawitsch.
He is survived by his son Steven Brawitsch & his wife Kathleen, daughter Barbara Graf and her husband Paul, grandchildren Mark, Ryan, Jakob and Julienna, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife Pauline, he was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Michael.
Visitation will take place Thursday, August 14, 2025, 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden, NY 12586.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, August 15, 2025 at 10:00 am at Most Precious Blood Church, 42 Walnut St., Walden, NY 12586.
Burial will follow at Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Most Precious Blood Church or Town of Montgomery Ambulance.
