Thomas Jerome Stehle of Montgomery NY passed away October 20, 2023. He was 81. The son of Fredrick & Loretta Stehle he was born March 18,1942 in Irvington, NJ.
Survivors include his husband Barry F. Currie, Sister Joan & George Carnrick, Sisters-in-law Nancy & Susan Stehle, Janice Strickland, Vernicia McCoy, a host of nephews, nieces, grand and great grant nephews & nieces.
He was predeceased by his Mother Loretta Poh Stehle, his father Fredrick Stehle and Brothers Paul & Dennis Stehle.
Tom attended Holy Trinity School and Seton Hall University. Tom later taught at NY Military Academy for 20 years and was Director of guidance for Goshen High School.
Tom has been a member of ATOS and NYTOS since 1967. He started his service to the Board of Directors in 1984 when he was appointed Vice Chair. In 1985, he was elected Chair and held that position until 1990 when he transitioned to the Secretary, a position he held until 2017. Since 1984, Tom served as Editor of the chapter newsletter, The Horseshoe until 2018. He had a hand in all of the NYTOS instruments working with multiple crews and putting on countless events. Tom stayed active as a board member as long as he could retiring in 2020, but would stay in touch and participate in discussions about our chapter’s goals. The amount of history and knowledge that Tom had for the theatre organ, artists, and this chapter is unmatched.
Visitation will be Saturday November 4th, 2023, from 12:00pm- 2:00pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home 22 Bank St. Walden NY 12586.
A service will follow at 2:30pm.
