Barbara J. Heitz of Walden, NY, a retired middle school teacher , and a longtime resident of the area, passed away peacefully with her family at her side  Friday, August 5, 2016, at home in Walden.  She was 73. 

The daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle Smith Groner, she was born August 27, 1942 in Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania.

Barbara taught English As A Second Language at Orange County Community College in Newburgh and was a Case Worker at Orange County Adult Services.

She attended the First Reformed Church of Walden and Walden United Methodist Church.
Barbara loved her family, gardening and spent her life volunteering and  helping others.

Twin Daughters Nancy Sairrino & Joyce Heitz
Son in law Andrew Sairrino
Brother, Barry Groner and his wife Barbara and sister in law Lucille Carley.
She was blessed to have a grandson and many nieces and nephews

She was predeceased by a nephew Mark Groner

Visitation will be Monday August 8, 2016 from 5 to 8 pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St.Walden, NY.

Funeral services will be Tuesday August 9, 11 am at the First Reformed Church of Walden 70 Scofield St Walden NY . Rev James O'Connell will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Josephine Louise Public Library, 5 Scofield St., Walden, NY 12586 in Barbara's Memory.
