Mary Calvo of Wallkill, NY, a retired Seamstress and a longtime resident of the area, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 16, 2015, in Highland. She was one of eight children and the last to pass at age 103. Mary lived through the times of the depression in New York City, throughout her life she continued the mindset of appreciating all she had. During WWII she sewed soldiers’ uniforms and was always proud of her contribution to the country she called home. Mary loved her family, animals, reading and could make any plant come alive. The daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Lopez Floria, she was born March 12, 1912 in Casade, Spain. She was the widow of Jack Calvo. Survivors include: Daughter in Law, Jeanne Lorenzo of Wallkill Granddaughter, Gina VanHouten and her husband, Philip of Wallkill Great Grandchildren: Ivy Davis and her husband Jason; Katie; Rachael VanHouten; David VanHouten and his wife Kris Great Great Grandchildren: Andrew and Mathew Davis She was predeceased by her son, Lionel Lorenzo. Services will be private. Mary will be interred in New Prospect Cemetery.
