I met Mary at a barn hunt in Cornwall, VT and we became Facebook friends. Mary was a very wonderful caring person and excellent animal trainer. I'll never forget meeting her dog Niko. She will be missed by many. My sympathies to her family.

On Facebook, I somehow "friended" a poodle named Nikko. Yesterday, I read that Nikko's "mom", named Mary, had passed away. Last night, I awoke in the middle of the night, finally putting it together. Could it be that this was my Mary? After we both left the Champlain College Bookstore, she got a poodle and named him Nikko...

Now I see my worst fears are true. My dear, darling, sweet Mary, valued co-worker and book club friend, the bright, funny spot in so many otherwise dull bookstore days, is gone. It is almost too much to imagine.

My condolences to her family. For two years she told me stories about you all, about the garden you grew, about the pride she had for her father's service in the Marine Corps, about her brother the NJ State Trooper. I've missed her over the years and just tried to contact her a few weeks ago via an old email address.

I am so very, very sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful person in all respects, good and sweet and kind and smart. In my head I can hear her correcting the terrible punctuation of that last sentence...

I wish I had figured things out sooner. I would have attended her service. Bless you all.

XXOO,
Lisa

I am so very sorry to hear of Mary's passing. What a great loss to so many. Our talks meant a great deal to me as did her love for Niko and Lance. I know the two of them are mourning with us all. She was a wealth of knowledge with regard to dogs and always ready to share. She was and is loved my many. Her heart was huge! So is her place in our hearts. <3

I had the pleasure of getting to know Mary over the past two years through our mutual love of standard poodles! Her Niko and my Dexter followed each other on Facebook and together made so many smile including each other. Her love of animals, and passion to share that love was inspirational! She will be desperately missed and I hope that her son Daniel, find peace in knowing just how many thousands and thousands of lives Mary touched! We will miss hearing stories of Niko's adventures and I pray that somehow Daniel can take over his Facebook account and keep Mary's and Niko's legacy going. I know I speak for the 14,000 members on the Facebook page "I Have Standards (poodles)" when I say "Safe travels Mary, we will see each other again at the rainbow bridge ."

I'm posting this as I just found out that Mary passed away and I'm so saddened by the loss of her. I met her 3 years ago on Facebook at the voice of Niko Pudel hound where her poodle would communicate through all the other 1000s of poodle moms. Mary was a fan of my art and followed and communicated with me weekly. She is going to be so missed by our community. I'm so sorry for your loss. We are so sad. God rest he soul.

So sorry to hear of Mary's passing. I met her as a client and did her hair for several years in the burlington area until she moved to NY. She worked at Champlain college in the bookstore when we met. A customer of mine sent her my way. I remembered she arrived with a short blonde bob and Dr. Martin boots and I liked her sense of style. I got to share a lot of conversation with her over that period of possibly 15 years and through a few colors and hairstyles. She was usually a pretty positive person and smiling and the only person I knew that actually had a pet turtle that roamed her house. I really wish her well and and a place of peace. My regards to her family during this difficult time.

I had the pleasure of working with Mary at Gardener's Supply for several years. She was such a warm, wonderful person. I greatly admired her love of science and animals, about which we had many interesting conversations, especially about fly fishing.
After I left Gardener's, I lost contact with Mary but thought of her often.
It is with a heavy heart that I learn of her passing. She will be missed by all who have had the good fortune of knowing her. My condolences to all the family members.

Mary was so very kind and understanding of chronic illness and empowered me through her persona as her poodle Niko on Facebook. She gave such kind advice and thoughts when I was struggling and needed support regarding my need of a service animal. Though we never met in person, she left a great and loving impression. I and all her poodle friends world-wide will miss her!

I knew Mary as Niko Pudelhund's "Mom". She was a member of a small, select standard poodle group I belong to. Niko's stories about his adventures with Mary were always entertaining. We will greatly miss Mary's humour and wonderful advice about our poodles. My sincere condolences to Mary's family. I'm sure Niko misses her very much and I hope all is well with him. ❤️❤️
