Charles Victor Work

Charles Victor Work of Wallkill, NY, a loving husband, father and longtime resident of Ulster County died on March 8, 2018. He was 74.

The son of the late Victor and Evelyn Work, he was born May 17, 1943 in Wichita Falls, TX.

Vic was a proud graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and sailed as a deck officer on merchant ships before attending NYU Graduate School of Business. For many years he was President of R.W. Cameron & Co, Inc. an export commission house shipping to Australia and New Zealand.

He was a former Ulster County Commissioner of Elections. Prior to serving in this role he headed the Ulster County Buildings and Grounds Department.

Victor was a dedicated member of the Wallkill Volunteer  Ambulance Corp where he served as driver, EMT, treasurer and president. He advocated successfully in the State Legislature for legislation supporting the volunteers. Vic was an active and engaged Democrat who was the veteran of many hard fought political campaigns in which he played a leadership role.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary, his brother, Ted and his wife, Sandy of Effingham, IL. , his cherished sons, David Work and his wife Christine of Cornwall-on-Hudson, Duncan Work and his wife Laura of Chapel Hill, NC, Nathaniel Work and his wife Emily of Philadelphia, PA. and his four grandchildren, who brought so much joy into his life: Andrew (11) Mabel (7), Braden (7) and Audrey (20 months).

Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9pm.and from 12:30-2:30 pm on Wednesday, March 14 at the Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St. Walden, NY.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 3:00 at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden, NY.
