Dr. Sundaresan Kondagunta of Goshen, NY, a retired mathematics professor from Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio and a resident of the area passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side at home on Saturday, February 16, 2019, in Goshen. He was 90.
The son of the late Sankarayya Kondagunta and Gnanamba Timmavajjula Kondagunta, he was born January 15, 1929 in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India. He earned his Bachelor’s degree (Honors) in mathematics from Presidency College, Chennai, India. He immigrated to the United States in 1961 on a research scholarship to the University of Washington, Seattle, WA, where he earned his PhD in Mathematics. He was active in research throughout his career with many published papers and lectures, and he was honored as a Distinguished Research Mathematician by CSU.
He was also a member of American Mathematical Society.
Survivors include his wife, Lakshmi Kondagunta, daughter Dr Gnanamba Varuni Kondagunta and her husband Dr Gregory Foster of Goshen, NY; grandchildren Arun, Kapil and Kiran Foster; and several nieces and nephews. His nephew Naga Subramaniam Kondagunta of New Delhi, India was present for the funeral services.
Sundaresan will be dearly missed by his family, his colleagues and his many friends.
