John J. McDermott III

John J. McDermott III of Montgomery, NY, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021 in Carmel, NY. He was 73.

The son of John J. McDermott Jr. and Florence Ward McDermott, he was born March 6, 1948 in Newburgh.

John was a 1967 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and worked as a taxi driver for Newburgh Taxi. He enjoyed playing and watching sports and loved his Yankees.

Survivors include his brother David (Susan)  McDermott; son Ronnie McDermott, daughter Jackie McDermott, daughter Cathy McDermott; grandchildren Alecia McDermott, Dana Petty, Amber Petty, Laton Petty, Joseph McDermott (aka Yo-Yo), Susie McDermott; great grandchildren Penelope Brunelle, Skyler Brown, Michael Gregory; stepson Robert Figueroa.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor, NY.
