Lois (Johnsen) Barringer

Lois Barringer of Walden, NY, a retired Nurse for NYS Dept of Corections, Shawangunk Prison, and a longtime resident of the area passed away on Saturday July 14, 2018,  in Poughkeepsie.  She was  73. 

The daughter of the late Howard R. Johnsen and Sylvia Swanson Johnsen, she was born August 13, 1944 in Staten Island, NY .

Lois started the first ICU unit at Perth Amboy Hospital, Perth Amboy, NJ and also worked at St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital as a nursing Administrator before going to work at the prison.
She was a member of  First Reformed Church of Walden, Quilters Attic Quilting Club in Pine Bush. Lois was a diehard Yankee Fan. She loved to travel, loved animals especially birds. Lois especially loved her grandchildren and family and always enjoyed holidays and family gatherings. Lois also enjoyed "The property", flowers and plants.

Daughter,     Melissa Root and her husband Michael of Salsbury, NC
Son,          Ken Barringer and his wife Jaymee of Wallkill, NY
7 grandchildren: Daemon, Michael, Madison, Alivia, Kevin, Ava Rose & Lukas
Brother, Robert Johnsen and his wife Sharon of Cornwall
Brother Kenneth Johnsen  and his wife Ellen of Parsippany, NJ
Brother Martin Johnsen and his wife Rosemary of Milford, NJ
Sister Cynthia Marlow and her husband Pete of Staatsburgh, NY
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews

She was predeceased by Her sister Anne, Brother Howard, and nephew Kenneth Johnsen.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. at the Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St.Walden, NY.

Funeral services will be Thursday July 19, 2018, 11:30 A.M. at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden, NY.
Reverend James O'Connell will officiate.

Burial will be in Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden, NY.
