MaryJean Midge Norman

June 19, 1942 ~ May 18, 2011 (age 68) 68 Years Old
Mary Jean "Midge" Norman of Walden, NY, a retired Childcare worker for Walden Day Care,
and a lifelong resident of the area died  Wednesday, May 18, 2011, in Newburgh, surrounded by her loving family and friends.  She was 68.

The daughter of the late Eugene and Minnie Decker VanLeuvan, she was born June 19, 1942, in Walden.


She was the President of the Ladies Auxiliary of Col. Bradley Hose, a longtime member of the Orange County Volunteer Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary, she was a longterm  Trustee for the Village of Walden, and was a long time advocate of the youth and parks of Walden. Midge founded the Friends of Walden Youth and served on Ollie Park Playground committee and the Walden Community Council. Midge was also an Associate member of the Walden VFW, and a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church of Walden.

She was the widow of Ken Norman.

Son,          Brent Norman and his wife Christine of Walden, NY
Son,          Scott Norman and his wife Dina of Walden, NY
4 Grandchildren, "the joy of her life": MacKenzie, Hunter, Scott, & Samantha
Brother,      Dutch VanLeuvan of Tenn.
Brother,      Harry "Hap" VanLeuvan of WV
Sister,       Pat Glass of Walden, NY
She is also survived by several nieces, nephews & cousins
She was predeceased by her Brother,  Clarence "Cootie" VanLeuvan
Visitation will be Sunday, May 22, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. at the Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St.Walden, NY.
Firemen are asked to line up at 6:30 pm with firematic services begining at 7 pm.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 23, 2011, 11:00 A.M. at First Reformed Church of Walden, 70 Scofield St., Walden, NY. Reverend Robert Miller will officiate.

Burial will be in Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden.
In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be made to the St. Jude Childrens Foundation 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or Walden Parks and Recreation Dept., 1 Municiple Square, Walden, NY 12586 in Midge's memory.
